November Freight Trends

FT-NOV14

ZMac Transportation examines available load trends across the country to help evaluate market capacity. A few months ago, we highlighted the available loads INBOUND from a regional area perspective. This month we snapshot the average number of available loads OUTBOUND to those regions.

The accompanying chart details the average number of available loads has continued to drop.  After peaking to a yearly high in June, the number of posted loads across the county dropped throughout the summer. Mid-July to Mid-August was relatively steady, but October brought a free-fall decline. So far, November has leveled-off. The current November numbers are approximately 15% higher than last year at this time. If trending holds form, expect a jump in available loads after Thanksgiving in an effort to get freight on the road prior to Christmas, then a huge drop as manufacturers shut it down until after the New Year.
