This market is challenging if you are trying to move freight. It is not that you can’t get a truck, it’s what you should pay for one. Using our instant freight quote tool, ZRATE, and our years of experience, we know exactly what you should pay for a truck. The issue is getting our customers to understand what is happening in the market right now.
What’s Driving The Market Price Through The Roof?
As of 2/21, there were 171,000 available flatbed loads on Truckstop. This is February, people! This type of inflated activity can only mean one thing. There is a decent amount of freight moving, and there are multiple loads posted for every real load. This is a supply and demand issue at the core, but in reverse. The customers are asking several brokers to move the same load and creating a false sense of demand thereby creating a shortage of available trucks and driving the price through the roof.
Any carrier worth his salt is familiar with this type of market, and they are going to take advantage of it. The customer is the one who will ultimately have to pay because we are all competing against each other for the same work and driving the price. Carriers see it and will hold out to get paid more, as they should.
ZMac’s No-Fail Directive
What we want our customers to do is not play this game. To do that, our customers need to trust that we have provided the price that will get them the service they require. When customers say to us “your price is too high” we have to let them know this is not our price. This is the market price to get you a truck at the time you need it. And we will guarantee it.
We have a no-fail directive. We will provide a truck. I believe there are very few if any other companies that will guarantee a truck in the spot market, but this is what we do. ZMac’s guarantee is needed more now than ever in this wild marketplace. Ultimately moving the freight is the priority and the type of service and communication we provide will help our customers navigate these stormy seas.
We want to create an understanding of how our customers can get the best service from a transportation provider so we can move freight far into the future. We have a staff of people here just waiting to do that, all you have to do is ask.
Stay dry!
Jeff
